B.A. in Anthropology, Colorado State University
Dr. Mary Van Buren
Plans after Graduation
Currently, I am a Solution Designer at 'Presence of IT'. I work with clients to determine how to build/design their workforce management software by helping translate human process into digital function. I collaborate with people all over the world and will soon start to travel. As a liaison between technology and people, I cannot express how perfect my anthropology education fits with this role. The 'Design Anthropology' class where we learned ethnography, human centered design, and social science consulting has really helped me embrace my new role here.
Note to Current Students
I have so many meaningful educational experiences. Many semesters ago, I had a practicum where I helped sort artifacts from the Vanoli site in Ouray, Colorado. That was such an awesome experience and I learned so much. I have never looked at glass bottles the same way again. I also had the amazing opportunity to conduct ethnographic research for Otterbox last fall. I learned so much about design Anthropology and this internship opened my eyes to the possible pathways I can take with my degree. I tried brewing Maze beer for my senior capstone in Archaeology of Mesoamerica. I failed miserably, but it was a ton of fun and my apartment smelled like corn for a week.
