Current Scholarships and Awards Available in the Department of Anthropology:

Amanda Jones Field Study Abroad Award

amandajonesIn honor alumna, Amanda (Mandy) Jones, the Department of Anthropology is pleased to invite applications for the Amanda Jones Field Study Abroad Award. Amanda was an anthropology major with a keen interest in applied work, her desire was to learn about other cultures by working in conjunction with communities to build sustainable futures. She participated in a field program for applied anthropology in Peru and found the experience to be one of the best of her undergraduate career, one that took her beyond the borders of the United States and brought to life her anthropology training.

The Amanda Jones Award will provide a $5,000 award to defer costs of an international field school or program in applied anthropology. To be eligible for the award, you must 1) have completed 15 credits of an anthropology major, 2) identified an international field school or academic program that features applied anthropology, and 3) complete a 1,500 word essay. In your essay, you must describe 1) the chosen program of study, 2) your interest in the specific locale of the program, 3) how completion of the program will further your career goals, and 4) how you expect to affected by participation in such work.

Applications are due March 1st, 2016.

The Field School Scholarship

The Field School Award was established in May 2013 with funds from both a private donor and the Department of Anthropology. The department will provide modest financial support for Colorado State University anthropology undergraduate and graduate students to support field school endeavors. Funds shall be used to cover necessary expenses associated with field school costs including travel, accommodations, transportation, supplies, etc. Awards are made on a competitive basis. To be eligible, the student must 1) be currently enrolled at Colorado State University, 2) be an anthropology major in the College of Liberal Arts, 3) maintain an overall GPA of 3.0, and 4) demonstrate involvement in extra-curricular activities, taking initiative, participation in programs and a commitment to anthropology.

Applications are due March 1st, 2016.

To apply, please e-mail your Field School Award Application to The Department Chair and office staff will request applications from all eligible students through e-mail communication. A committee appointed by the Department of Anthropology Chair shall select the recipient(s).
