Merve received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, double majoring in Geography, from Ankara University, Ankara in 2011. During her undergraduate and Masters degree, she attended archaeological excavations in Üçağızlı Cave (Turkey), Hayranlı-Haliminhanı (Turkey), Lagina (Turkey) and Olduvai Gorge (Tanzania). Merve, currently, researches the effects of fluvial abrasion on cutmarks and carnivore toothmarks on bones using a white-light non-contact profilometer.
