M.A. in Anthropology, Colorado State University
Dr. Lynn Kwaitkowski
Before I completed the Masters program at CSU, I was offered an interim position as the Executive Director (ED) of OneMorgan County, a 501(c)3 non profit in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Since completion of my degree in 2014, I have become the full-time ED of OneMorgan County (OMC) where our mission is to foster relationships among diverse people and organizations to strengthen the well-being, safety and cohesive nature of our community. The unique history of immigration in Morgan County has created the need for organizations like OMC to help bridge the gap between diverse cultures including those with Latino, East African and European roots. Relying on the research I completed at CSU, OMC’s programs are centered on the idea of interculturalism where cultural diversity is celebrated and shared within the community, creating a sense of belonging for all. Within my role as ED, I also provide cross-cultural communication training to organizations throughout Morgan County.
Note to Current Students
The portfolio option within the Department of Anthropology allowed for me to take a more applied approach to my research and helped me secure a position where I can actively apply the work that I am passionate about. I am thankful for the flexibility of the Anthropology Department at CSU.
