B.A. in International Studies, Colorado State University
Dr. Jason LaBelle
In May 2014, I began an archaeological technician position with Metcalf Archaeological Consultants in Bismarck, North Dakota. I performed fieldwork including pedestrian survey, architectural survey, shovel testing, excavation, and lab analysis until November of 2014. In December 2014, I began fieldwork in Green River, Utah with Cultural Resource Analysts, performing pedestrian survey and site recording in a really cool area for two months and discovered rock art which had not been recorded, a homestead, and hundreds of prehistoric sites, including rock shelters. I worked for Metcalf Archaeological Consultants during the summer 2015 field season. Currently, I am in the M.A. program for Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Chicago and am digging at a site in northern Israel called Tel Akko as part of the Tel Akko Total Archaeology Project.
Note to Current Students
Take advantage of all the opportunities that Colorado State University and the professors and graduate students in the Department of Anthropology have to offer! I could not have been able to achieve what I have experienced after graduation without my study abroad experience, archaeological field school with Dr. LaBelle, work in the archaeology lab, being involved in clubs, and taking advantage of all that I learned in my coursework. Your degree will only give you as much as you choose to take from it!
