Brad Patterson graduated from the Department of Anthropology in 1970 and went on to obtain his Ph.D. in biological psychology from the University of Oklahoma and subsequently a career in neuropsychology.

Susan Harness graduated from the Department of Anthropology in 2006 and is a member of the Confederated Salish Kootenai Tribes from Western Montana. In her book "Mixing Cultural Identities Through Transracial Adoption" - she discusses a project that was intended to provide resources and access to American Indian children residing in challenging social conditions but which some say was only yet another attempt to marginalize the American Indian population.
